Notes

  • On June 7, reported in Sin Chew that RTD says it must be paid, but contradicted by statement by Tiong Lai that it was given for free. If it was given for free, it also means that the process at RTD was flawed, as it meant that "official" bidders can bid as high as needed to win, but not have to pay. This again would be an abuse of power.
  • There are a lot of conflicting responses from the minister involved. If the money was not personal, it is still abuse of power to use government funds for vanity plates. If government funds were not used, then Liow Tiong Lai will need to declare assets and/or sponsors for the bid payment.
